Spotfin Butterflyfish

Latin Name:  Chaetodon ocellatus

The spotfin butterflyfish (Family Chaetodontidae) is so named for a small black spot at the very top back edge of the dorsal fin. These reef-associated fish are found only in the Western Atlantic and not usually deeper than 100 feet. They can be found feeding on small worms, small crustaceans and some algae.
