Rainbow Parrotfish

Latin Name:  Scarus guacamaia

General Size:  14" x 4"

The rainbow parrotfish is an herbivore that is usually found on shallow reefs less than 75 feet deep. This species is a member of the family Scaridae. Some members of this family create a mucous cocoon at night that is distasteful to potential predators thereby protecting them during rest.
